In 1993, a few months after being approached by the religious community of the Sisters of the Holy Family, Domaine de Chevalier agreed to take a lease on Domaine de la Solitude (Pessac-L\u00e9ognan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.domainedelasolitude.com\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.domainedelasolitude.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">discover<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\" id=\"chateau-lespault-martillac\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>2009<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full m-logo\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.domainedechevalier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/lespault.svg\" alt=\"Ch\u00e2teau Lespault-martillac\" class=\"wp-image-1947\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2009, very nearby in the same appellation, the destiny of Ch\u00e2teau Lespault-Martillac was entrusted to Chevalier by the Bolleau family, anxious to develop the potential of the vineyard and to raise the estate to the first-rate reputation it aspires to.<br>Located on a gravel dome, the vineyard of around ten hectares is mostly planted with old Merlot vines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lespault-martillac.com\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.lespault-martillac.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">discover<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"482\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.domainedechevalier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/chateau-lespault-martillac-482x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-688\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Between the two, in 2006, giving free rein to his passion for great white wines, Olivier and his family made their first foray into the region of choice for dessert wines by acquiring a stake in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chateauguiraud.fr\/\">Ch\u00e2teau Guiraud<\/a>, Premier Grand Cru Class\u00e9 de Sauternes in 1855.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\" id=\"clos-des-lunes\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"608\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.domainedechevalier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/clos-des-lunes-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1899\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.domainedechevalier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/clos-des-lunes-2.jpg 608w, https:\/\/www.domainedechevalier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/clos-des-lunes-2-500x535.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 608px) 100vw, 608px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>2011<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full m-logo\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.domainedechevalier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/clos_lunes.svg\" alt=\"Clos\ndes lunes\" class=\"wp-image-1953\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2011, on the strength of this first approach, Olivier Bernard innovated by deciding to produce, in the heart of the terroir shared by the greatest classified growths of the Sauternes region, a great dry white wine, called Clos des Lunes, whose reputation has quickly spread throughout the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.closdeslunes.com\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.closdeslunes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">discover<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"489\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.domainedechevalier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/clos-des-lunes-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1943\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Still in the Sauternes region but in neighbouring Barsac, a stone\u2019s throw from the confluence of the Ciron and Garonne rivers, is Ch\u00e2teau Suau, 2nd Grand Cru Class\u00e9 in 1855. Long in the hands of the Lur Saluces family, it now belongs to the Biarnes, who decided to hand over management to Chevalier in 2015. After its reputation faded somewhat in the 20th century, the Ch\u00e2teau is now gradually rejoining the elite of the great dessert wines of Sauternes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\" id=\"chateau-soubian\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full m-logo\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.domainedechevalier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/chateau_Soubian.svg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1961\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And in 2019, the C\u00e9l\u00e9rier family, long-time neighbours and friends, and owners of Ch\u00e2teau Soubian in L\u00e9ognan, asked Olivier Bernard and his family to replant the vineyard and relaunch production on its fine clay-gravel terroir, which had lain abandoned since the great frost of 1956. The last vineyard in this commune bordering Bordeaux, Ch\u00e2teau Poumey was saved from urban sprawl thanks to its acquisition by the town in 1988. It is now undergoing organic conversion, like the other estates cultivated by Olivier Bernard.
